When purchasing a new vehicle, you want to do everything you can to maintain that new car look as long as possible. Whether it is parking far away from other vehicles as possible to avoid the chance of a door ding and no matter how hot it is outside you will not risk parking under a tree. Your main fear is getting that first scratch and then your car will never be the same again. Fortunately, if the unexpected does occur to your vehicle, paint repair techniques have come a long way over the years. At A.u.t.o Collision our auto body and paint repair can help you restore your paint job to its original beauty. Check out this list of unexpected causes of paint damage to watch out for.
Although gasolines evaporates quickly the impact of having drops of gasoline drip out of the fuel nozzle onto your paint can have an additive effect, creating microscopic damage to the clear coat or even paint to your vehicle. Be aware when topping off your tank, and clean off any spilled gasoline immediately.
Drinks and Food:
Have you ever left a drink sitting on top of your car and accidentally driven off? The pain of getting sticky soda or cappuccino on your paint job is awful. While the sugar in these drinks might seem like a minor nuisance, it can actually damage your paint if it is not cleaned up right away. Spilled food that get on the outside of your paint job should be cleaned immediately as well.
Animal and Insect Debris:
Anytime biological debris touch your paint job, they create a chemical reaction that will eat away at your paint job. It is important to clean up any bird droppings right away, the same is true for insect splatter. If you take road trips regularly insect debris can have an acidic effect toward your paint job.
